BIO
As an artist, I have focused my work on human, social, and environmental issues in rural communities worldwide. My collaborations have included partnerships with organizations such as the UNHCR United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, The GIZ German Cooperation, the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development, and the Human Rights Center at Duke University. My project on deported migrants, “The Backpackers,” was shown at the 2017Venice Biennale, and “My Original Face” was exhibited there in 2019. I have had the opportunity to show my work in museums, galleries, and policy forums, from the Climate Change Summit in Paris and the C40 Mayors Summit in Mexico City to the Makerere Art Gallery in Kampala, Uganda, the Galleria de Arte Colombo Americano in Medellin, Colombia, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the Organization of the American States in Washington, D.C. My work is part of the collection at the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library at Duke University. My awards include the Project Launch Grant from the Center in Santa Fe, the Beth BlockAward from the Houston Center for Photography, and more than ten IPA and PX3 Prix de la Photographie de Paris awards.
